Susan,
The Horticulture article wasn't specific, but take a look at the Heronswood
catalog. These words are theirs.
"We have been dazzled by this climbing Monkshood in our garden, with
handsome, deeply dissected foliage and vigorous stems rising to 15' each
season, carrying copious clusters of very large, deeply saturated
lavender-blue, hooded flowers in late August through mid-October. This
species was in blossom on that beautiful autumn day in Yunnan (while
listening to the Marxist Brothers version of Afternoon Delight), climbing
20' through a small maple along a damp ravine. We grow this through the
golden foliage of Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Crippsii' to very good effect. Full
sun or very light shade and adequate summer irrigation."
Their catalog, vine section is located at:

Take a look for yourself.
