I used a small 12v pump(we have no hydro at the cabin) through a
watering wand to apply the solution to the soil. Some was applied to the
foliage but this was more due to the fact I was rushing to get it over
with. As well as wanting some green manure tea, I used the water to
soften the hard Alfalfa cubes so I could apply it evenly over the
ground. The cubes I used were aprox. 1"x1"x4" and hard as rocks, I
suppose in time they would break down but to get the coverage I needed,
it would have been very expensive and you would end up with little
pockets of nutrients rather than a nice even mix that is immediatly
available to the plants. Once I used up the liquid, I spread the muck
around and scuffed it in with a cultivator.

If you wait a couple of weeks to use it like I did then yes, unless they
like a mix of bad sneaker, cheese & vomit fragrance,(sorry) I would
think that most people would run like the wind, but in the other
direction. The brave souls that stay should be provided with those
little bags you find on an airliner.
BUT, if you wet it down and apply/dig it in before it starts to ferment
it should be fine. I would try watering if it starts to smell but I
don't think it will if you use it within a day or two. The benefits far
outweigh the apparent risk and as I mentioned before, this is hot stuff
in the Iris community they all seem to swear by it. JUST DON'T WAIT 2
WEEKS!
