I am really getting anxious to get started in the yard. Maybe one of
these days I'll havve a green house and garden all year round. Now that
would be great.
I went to Lowe's and they had packets of 98 planting season seeds for
only 10 cents a packet. I don't think my husband noticed the little sign
and he looked a little bewildered when I kept picking up packet after
packet.
Most of them were annuals, though. I picked as many ground covering
plants as I could. Maybe in zone 7 they will self seed the following
year,I am not sure.
I did get a few pricier brands of (gaillardis aristata) Blanketflower.
When I used to clean houses I would take a seed head or two from pretty
flowers. The owners never minded as they just trashed them anyway after
growing season. These always remind me of the peach and seed inside.
And then I bought the Oriental Poppy. I would like to plant these in
large groups.
My husband is all for my idea of planting the yard up in plants and
shrubs since that is less to mow.
There was this one plant that had beautiful deep blue flowers on it at
one house I used to clean. They almost were a neon color. I never got
any of them as they were probably perennials and not propagated by seeds
but by cutting. I wish I had asked the lady what they were as they were
gorgeous and great ground cover.
