Well, I talk to my plants "out loud" and I'm only moderately cuckoo...at
least most of the time.  I give them praise where praise is due and hell
when they act up.  I consider this normal gardener's behavior :-)  Am
firmly convinced I'd never have seen my H. petiolaris bloom if I hadn't had
a heart to heart with it about the compost heap...bloomed the very next
year, after, I may add, a 7 year wait.  Same worked with my wisteria.
