Wow! So far it would seem as though everyone's swap is really an
elaborate production. Each spring, the city of Rochester sponsors a
perennial swap at the community garden by Lake Ontario. They ask each
participant to bring three divisions, labelled, if possible, from 9:00
am to 12 noon. When you bring your plants you are allowed to choose
three from the assortment already there. This event goes really smoothly
and the gardeners usually hang out for a while to discuss the cultural
practices of the plants they brought and the derivations of common names
if the Latin name is not known.
