Try ordering from The Lily Garden, too. They have great stock (phone
#360-263-5588 between Tuesday - Thursday 9am - Noon PST -- best time to
reach them, or write at 35306-A NQ Toenjes Rd, Woodland, WA 98674).

I use oriental, trumpet and Aurelian lilies in with my pastel garden
(roses, catmints, etc) for form and incredible perfume, and I like the
flaming colors of scent-less Asiatic lilies with the rest of my perennial
borders. All are extremely easy to grow, much like tulips. If you plant
them in a well-draining spot or on a slope, you will be rewarded with
blooms matched by no other genus. Hasn't everyone been attracted to the
scent of an oriental lily or an Easter lily? Don't pay a florist for a
bloom that will only last you at best a week! Grow them in your garden and
have weeks of various blooms perfuming your garden and cut flowers for your
home and office. Most will multiply rapidly, especially Asiatics.

While you should always try to order from an American supplier (less travel
time for the bulbs and thus fresher lilies), I will order some specialty
bulbs hybridized by Dutch suppliers, such as L.A.'s, which are a cross
between Asiatics and Longifolium lilies. These are bred especially for cut
flowers and are currently offered only by the Dutch. Try getting these
from either Van Bourgondien (800-622-9997 -- 10 for $23.50) or I believe
that other catalogs carry them .
