We have the same experience but keep on trying. really like hollyhocks, I
think it is a nostalgia thing as my grandmother raised such gorgeous ones
and I can remember her making colorful little dolls out of the blooms.
Everytime I see this plant I think of her. I know she did not spray her,
just grew them out by her potting shed
