There are very few tghings deer will not eat if they are hungry enough. "Deer
resistant" means deer are not known to eat tghe plant most of the time, but
there's no guarantee. Deer are sly. They will change the plants they eat
from year to year. Currently they are eating my ornamental conifers! They've
also eaten rugosa roses. A plant that seems to be a deer repellant is cleome,
due to it's skunky odor. If you want to give a measure of protection to a
flower bed, plant cleome throughout (thanks to Linda Wallpe for this tip--it
has worked for me for 3 years). Now, just as I say this, watch the rascals
eat all of my cleome this year.
