We built a courtyard off our dining room last year (back of house), with a
beuatiful slate, and a ....fireplace! And, there's a white painted rail
around two edges. Great place for summer dinner parties. Naturally, we
wanted scented flowers out there, so surrounded the two sides with roses -
David Austin, bourbon, old english - all in shades of pink. And, we
interplanted with stargazers and casablancas.
I can't tell you how breathtaking it is at the end of July and August when
the lilies and roses are in bloom! Behind the fireplace, we have two huge
hydrangea to add to the romance.
I always plant up four or five pots of lilies, as you never know when you
can use a shot of colour. They grow so easily in a pot.
