RE: Park Seed & lily offer

I've found Park's to be very dependable for seed and they could not
have been nicer about issuing a credit when some seed I ordered didn't
germinate. The bad seed was an exception and I've already ordered more
seed from Park this year.

The plugs (annuals) I got from Park's were grown in some sort of brown,
spongy stuff. The plants were perfectly fine, the spongy stuff they
were grown in was nasty. It doesn't break down in the soil (plastic?)
and resists water if it gets dry. I've not ordered perennial plants
from Park's so it's possible that they don't use this stuff for them or
maybe someone on the list has better coping strategies. The Siberian
Iris bulbs (Navy Flag?) I ordered from them have grown very well and
came with good planting directions.

Park's sent an offer for what seems to be a good price on Oriental
Lilies collections (named selections), from $.89 to $1.66 per 14-16 cm.
bulb. The varieties are Pink Paradise, Mediterranae, La Reve, Merostar
and Siberia. Has anyone ordered lilies from Park's or had experience
with any of these varieties?

I've not grown lilies before so any comments about caring for them
would be appreciated. Also, are any particular varieties more
noticeably, strongly-scented than others.

TIA
