E-mail goofs (was...dim) -- OT

Hats off to Sue and Bill, who are sure to have a great time in Portland!

Just wanted to share an embarrassing moment: When I was put in charge
of
a large Web development project in 1994 for a major publisher, I spent
12 or 14 hours a day at work getting up to speed, including reading &
replying to up to 400 e-mail posts per day from the dozens of folks on
the project. One night, late, I received a post from my boss (the
president, in fact) with comments on a thread and some pretty
unflattering remarks about a member of our team. When I replied to my
boss, I accidentally copied his post and my reply to that member!!!
(I still cringe when I think about it.) Both my boss and the team
member were the absolute souls of graciousness in forgiving me (and
each other). From then on, I've practiced extreme caution while
e-mailing, but my admiration for the kindness and charity practiced by
the majority of e-mailers increases every year. When you add that to
the generosity and charm of most gardeners, it's quite a combination!

Now back to perennials...
