Re: Root diagrams


Nan and Margaret,

While hunting down some information in Robert Kourik's 'designing and
maintaining YOUR EDIBLE LANDSCAPE NATURALLY' I noticed some root depth maps.
They are used in several chapters including double digging and interplanting
crops.  He references two books by John Weaver- 'Root Development of Field
Crops' and 'Root Development of Vegetable Crops'.  Both New York McGraw-Hill
published in 1926 and 1927.  "...His books and articles are the largest single
source of root zone maps in the world."  Might be worth a search.
