Velma, to me irrigation is water flowing from a ditch, directed by ruts and
small dams to water whatever it is you want to water. Sprinklers are quite
another matter. Drip irrigation is different from both of the preceding,
and soaker hose watering is different from them. I'm not sure exactly what
it is you want to do, but if you used a sprinkler on your black eyed susans
then noticed powdery mildew on them, what time of day did you water? If
you're using sprinklers, it's a good idea to sprinkle early in the morning
so the plants will have a chance to dry before damp or cool evening. If
you're interested in drip irrigation, go to a garden store. They should
have a free booklet of drip irrigation information. You can call
1-800-522-3747 for a free parts catalog. But above all, were I living in
Minnesota, I'd find out how you overwinter the system or do you have to
replace it each year? Margaret L
