Re: L. nummularia 'Aurea' was: Mystery ground cover

L. nummularia 'Aurea' prefers damp soil where it will really move out
and cover ground. Will survive in drier conditions but not spread as
fast. Color is quite yellow when it gets sun and more chartreuse in
shade. Will grow in quite a bit of shade, but color is not going to
be typical of the plant in sun. Roots where stem nodes touch soil.

Have grown this one for years in the cracks of a flagstone patio
where it sort of hangs on, but doesn't really spread a lot. Couple
of years ago, put a few bits in my "bog" garden and it's covered the
central area and busily trying to cover the entire thing...just went
in and gave it a haircut to keep it where I want it...really likes
that continually damp soil. I think it's supposed to flower, but I
have never seen mine do this.

Glechoma variegata is a plant that - much as I love variegated plants
- I would never get on account of my continuing battle with the
species who really wants to cover every square inch of ground on my
property:-) Enjoy it in your hanging baskets, but watch it and don't
let any get in the ground!
