Re: Perennials Encyclopedia

For beginners, it wouldn't be a bad idea to also buy the newest Better
Homes & Gardens guide. This book has perennials, annuals, and bulbs -- in
short, everything you need to make a good beginning garden. It isn't as
extensive as others mentioned, but it has color pics of everything,
cultivar recommendations (as well as those to stay away from!) and
discusses in great detail about garden design. It also provides several
detailed garden plans, interviews with "Joe Gardener" and pics of their
home gardens, and a list of sources to start with.

I have an older version, but it gave me needed confidence in my beginning
stages of gardening.
