Re: Gophers or moles?


I don't know about gophers, but moles do not eat plants.  Moles eat bugs and 
earthworms.  They harm plants, though, in two ways:  (1) they tunnel under 
them leaving the roots exposed to air in the tunnels and the roots die and 
(2) their tunnels are also used by voles and I suppose other rodents who WILL 
eat the plant roots.  I try to disturb their tunnels and firm plants back 
into contact with soil.  Since I live in the middle of the woods, there is no 
practical way to get rid of all moles.
