Re: Crocosmia&Echinops


On the blue echinops (which I have also in that bed with grasses, phlox,
liatris, etc. - 2 big clumps, one of which cropped up on its own), I
have noticed some black aphids early in the season on the new growth.  I
just rub them off by hand, and occasionally hose down the foliage. 
They're all gone now and plants are blooming well.  I think mine is
plain old E. ritro, but it certainly has handsome, 2-inch very blue
globes.  I'd be willing to send along some seeds later if anyone wants
to try this one.
