Thanks, Janet and Bob for the hopeful outlook.  
The one I had would not recover, even though I hosed it off, moved it to an
all sunny spot, and kept it from being covered up, etc.  Every time I turned
around, it was all shriveled up again.  I should have left it for another
season instead of pulling it out, it might just have been too young and small
to outpace the bugs, and another season would have seen it more successful.  
I will try again, it is such a neat plant for cutting.
