In the Caribbean one year, I got hit by a sea urchin on the bottom of my
foot. The concierge at the hotel squeezed a lime over the wound, then sealed
it by dripping candle wax on it. She said the lime juice tenderized the skin
and the cooling wax drew out any remaining urchin spine. It sounded like
voodoo at the time, but it worked. I wonder if that would work for insect
stings as well?
