Re: Roger Swain is back

Hi!
I sometimes think Erica is out there with a TV crew and they have not given
her a garden worth a thirty (OK well about 22 minutes) minute program. She
may have to really grasp to get an entire show from what is essentially
somebody's pretty good back yard. She should, as I am the producer here for
a minute, take half show segments and visit specialists in different areas
and let them talk.
AND
Erica is not given great stuff to deal with nor is she given articulate
gardeners to talk with. We should send her over to Gene and then there would
be a real dialogue with something of value resulting.

that would work much better! I'd like to see her go visit Gene, Bill, Curt Hanson ( a mid west daylily hybridizer and one of the better daylily speakers),

One of the best TV programs on horticulture that I ever saw and still
remember was Adrian Bloom (awfully stiff and superior) in the succulent
garden in Monaco. He allowed the staff to talk and the TV crew must have
been very good as there was not too much of Mr. Bloom. If I ever go to
Monaco, I will certainly visit there. There was A-1 staff and plants placed
in imaginative ways. I don't live where I could ever grow most of this stuff
but it was so well done, the steep hillsides were a good lesson in handling
hard to plant areas - one of the few programs that I remember.
One of my favorite Adrian interviews was the one he did with his father - class, classy and interesting!
