I'd have to agree that the clumps do not increase a lot, but the plant seeds
around. I've planted two of them over the years (and a third white one that
did not survive) and probably have about twenty-five plants today. Like you,
Claire, I have them planted with echinacea (both purple and white) and
they're a nice combination. Lots of self-sown blue platycodon mixed in with
them, and some rudbeckia 'Indian Summer' (I love this rudbeckia--far superior
to 'Goldstrum'.
