Hi Claire,This turns our to be a beautiful small perennial. It is a ruby color and has tons of buds. It is about fifteen inches tall and is just blooming now for me. That means it probably has bloomed elsewhere much earlier in the season.
I put this on the end of a bed near some sedums, other perennials and a glaucus rose; the effect is interesting. The other piece is also lost in a sea of green; the daylilies I put it near aren't in bloom yet or passed already. I was thinking about putting a piece of it near my tall yellow scabiosa next year. I think the dusty blue foliage of the scabiosa will look great with those red flowers.
How about pairing it with blue fescue or stachys?
