I have a neighbor friend who is affectionately known as *the
Hosta Queen*. She has over 600 varieties in her yard. She
brought all of them (or parts of them, anyway) from her
previous home which had a lot of huge mature trees. Her
current home has SOME trees, but not as many. Most of her
Hosta get at least half day sun, some all day. They look
fabulous.

Her advice? Plant the yellower leaved ones in the most sun
and the bluer leaved ones in the most shade. I'm sure that
is simplified for a NON-Hosta aficionado like me. She has
one yellow leaved variety (sorry, can't recall the name) in
full sun and it's over 8 feet wide (and it's only 3 years
old)! She says that one makes people stop and ask what that
huge plant is.

YMMV
