That plant is probably a popular and cheap (now) plant named 'Sum and
Substance'. It grows so large there are contests for who has the largest
leaf or widest plant. It has thick leaves so does not have much slug damage
but as far as I know, despite it's rating, it will not do well in the sun.
Zone 4 has less sun than warmer states and most Hostas get burned here as
soon as there is a dry week if they are in full sun.
Only the plantaginea hybrids like sun so one would have to do a bit of
research. We have a lot of Hostas also. Ed calls them skunk cabbages and
says the first thing that goes after my demise is the Hosta collection. One
trip with the lawn mower is his favorite remark. Second is every rose bush.
Otherwise he likes the garden.
The thing with the Hostas is that they do brown up and look awful around
midsummer. They really are best in full shade.
