Artemisia vulgaris 'Cragg-Barber Eye'

I bought Artemisia vulgaris 'Cragg-Barber Eye' this spring and planted
it on the west side of my house (the sunniest and driest part of the
yard).

It did great for the first two months, but now whole stalks are drying
out. I was under the impression that this plant liked dry, sandy,
barren areas.

Was I wrong? Do I need to give this guy a nice drink? Granted, it's
been dry here -- we haven't had any rain since June 15th and most
days are in the 90s.

I just don't want to kill this guy -- it looks so nice next to my
sage (which is doing great there) and was hard for me to come by.
