Re: Sickly Blue Cohosh- need help

So Gene, is there any chance my sickies will come back next year? No blossoms, no berries, just sad disappearing plants. Haven't had a chance to move them yet to more neutral soil. Will work on that next week
Thanks,
Lillian

Hi,
No, you do not absolutely have to have another plant to get berries.
But, you will get more berries more often, and usually larger berries if
there are two or three plants in a area together. Cross pollination is
almost always better that the self-fertilization thing.
If you were going to have berries this year you would know it by now.
Blooms were way back in the early spring, and by now you would be seeing the
berries. Nice porcelain blue right on top of the foliage.

topdress all beds with mushroom compost which should neutralize it somewhat.
I did get flowers this year, but so far I'm not convinced they will turn to
berries.
