That is kind of you Marilyn but I will have to pass on new plants this
summer. I thought it over and I have to say no. A census of what is coming
into the plant places tells me that some will have to find other homes. Some
have become too large. I plan to try to keep 'Amy' and I will have to stuff
that one in somewhere. That is such an attractive plant. I don't know how
the indoor plant collection became so large, it just did and more
construction seems like a bad idea. Paring down the collection seems more
reasonable. I got some Clivias this past spring and then things got carried
away.
There are a lot of bulbs in pots also. A note here for bulb growers who have
better climates than zone 4 or live in California is that the IBS list has
had some problems. That list was expensive to be a part of with membership
in IBS required. How it all ended is that both USA chapters are now open,
free, for all new members who like to discuss bulbs of any kind and the
Pacific group are running an exchange where they contribute bulbs and
distribute them. I can post both subscription instructions if anyone wants
them. Both lists are low traffic and very interesting. Jim Shields is in
charge of one, Ms. Mary Sue Ittner, the other. Both have international
postings, images and full of very nice people.
On some other forum, I read a writer say he just walked through the store and
the plants jumped into the wagon and there he was in his car and never knew
how it happened. Well, that is about what has happened here.
I will mark and research that minus twenty Hebe for next year, seems hard to
believe, a Hebe in New York. I had not seen or read of 'Violet Snow' but
there it goes on next year's list already begun. It is warmer on Long
Island and there are places there that are like your area. The rest of us
are not so lucky.
