RE: Tour day is over-now variegated plants

Hi Donna,
I have no true shade - just less sun! I have been adding things this year with variegation that are supposed to be part to full sun plants.
My first experience with a "pink" variegation was "Tri-Color" sedum, which had lovely pink and cream edged leaves. It was all green with in a week. Second try, it lasted 2-3 months and was either dead or all green - right down the middle of the planting!

The moonflower sounds lovely!

I get confused :(
Are you a sun or shade gardener? Noticed here in the sun that some of
the pink color disappears in the hot summer, turns beigey (is that a
word?) or off white... but in the spring and fall the pink looks lovely.

I have been on a variegated kick this year. If it is multicolor-- it is
in the car :( Tried a variegated moonflower. Not nearly as tall as the
regular type, but spread nicely. It also has the hugest pure white
flowers. Not sure if it so noticeable due to the green and beige leaves
or what. So folks-- since it is not hardy here.... if I save the seed
(provided there are any) will the plant be variegated again... or what?

 - The beech tree sounds lovely. So far any thing I have tried to
grow with pink variegation has withered to nothing or reverted to
 all green.
