I also haven't seen any monarchs yet this summer...we usually have loads... wondered if I just wasn't paying attention... have moderate amount of chewing on milkweed... But have seen a fair number of swallowtails visiting the flowers.
Hummingbirds are around - they love the fuschia pots on the deck - they visit regularly as we sit there in the early evening.
And we seem to have LOTS of aphids this year- drat! They're making a mess of my honeysuckle "Dropmore Scarlet" - I've tried spraying them off with a hose multiple times, and then resorted to insecticidal soap - this helped, but not enough... Guess I might have to try a systemic.
