Donna Davis, NE Mississippi, zone 7 here. I can't imagine what has happened. As a rule for me, daylilies as so very hardy, even my clamite. Regardless of how hot, humid, wet, or dry mine bloom for ever and ever. normally mine start in June and I have blooms through the month of July.
I can't remember loosing a daylily ever until this past year. I went to a new source and purchased
8 new ones. One of them was fairly expensive. (thank God it was one of the ones that survived), however I lost 5 of the 8. I was very upset, but the lady would not replace them, saying that the double were prone to not come back. I take exception to that excuse, however I did not argue the point. I decided to let all of my gardening friends know what happened and I have not been back to buy from her.
We have another Lily Farm close by and I've never had a problem with her plants, so I'll just stick to what works for me.
I can't imagine what went wrong. Normally you can take a stick to them and still can't kill them. I've got them everywhere. I love them

Maybe Cheryl or one of you other daylily gurus can help me... I have some special daylilies (5 of them) that I paid a small fortune for. Bought them from We're In the Hayfield Now. They lived in the ground the first year and were happy. Next spring, when I knew we were moving, I potted them, and they bloomed away that summer. When we moved in the fall, I got them into the ground by early Oct. ( in a "holding area")where they lived for a year while construction was going on. Bloom was sparser than previous and I figured they needed dividing. Last fall they got moved to their permanent homes. Also got divided cause they had really gotten quite big. This year one of varieties has lots of scapes and blooms, 2 of them have some scapes, maybe one per division, and 2 have no scapes at all, nor any sign of one. Any idea what gives? Do I just need to be more patient and wait till next year? Have I done them an injury? Help!
Thanks,
Lillian, Zone 5
