Lay the pipe on the ground....don't stick it in the ground........all 12
inches laying flat with one end at or very near a vole hole. The elbow creates
the turn into darkness and the vole feels safe as though he were in a tunnel.
Also helps keep the bait in the pipe.
Chips might eat the bait and croak but I imagine they are a bit too large for
1 1/2 inch pipe; groundhogs would need a 10 inch pipe and bait of similar
size.
One never sees the dead voles as they don'y die immedately.......apparently
die in their hole. Proof of success is: #1 they don't eat the bait anymore and
#2 They don't eat the plants anymore. What more proof does one need. Of
course, you can set out peanut butter in mouse traps and you'll get a vole.....or
a mouse....or an accidentally sprung trap........remember Litters per
year,etc. That's a lot of mouse traps.
