Delphinium Question

Here in the lovely Pacific Northwest, we still have the wet a dreary
fall weather and my
Delphiniums just received a heavy down poor of rain. The perfectly tall
and masterful English
Delphiniums are drooping and need extra support to show the grace of a
good spring day.

Now we are heading into the stage of the post Delphinium growth where
the seed heads are
forming and the steams are becoming top heavy.....what is recommended in
keeping these
beauties around longer? I would hate to see them bend and break.

If I wanted to take cuttings, when is the proper time and what do I look
for? Do I need a
special vase or special instructions? What do they do for the shows?
