wrong bloom time?

Hi folks,
   I'm so frustrated I could spit nails!  As you know this is the
first year for my perennial garden which I planted last fall.  I pored
over the catalogues and books making my selection of plants, taking
careful note of color, height, bloom time, light needs, etc.  I
THOUGHT I had made a nice selection and would have a nice variety of
colors etc. in my garden.  Ha! Early this spring my garden was all
pink..foxgloves, Sweet Williams and Dianthus deltoids plus another
dianthus.  While each plant was lovely, I hadn't planned on an all
pink garden.  Then along came the coreopsis and gaillardias.  Now I
had a gold and pink garden..not too aesthically pleasing.  However
since each plant was really lovely, I thought "okay, be cool, the
blues will come along any day".  Well guess what.  Today, I have the
most hideous mess you ever saw.  How would you like a garden that is
purple and orange.  Yuck and double yuck!!! At the moment I have
Canturbury Bells, adenophora, Bellflowers, stokesia, balloon flowers
and scabiosa..ALL PURPLE.  Amid this purple wonderland, I have orange
day lilies, orange-gold painted daisies, and the gaillardias continue
in their orange and red shades.  If the dumb shasta daisies would ever
bloom, I would at least have some relief with white, but I'm sure the
shastas are pouting because I moved them so often earlier.  What to
do, what to do. 
   We have talked often on this list about how plants are not blooming
when they normally do because of the mild winter.  I don't know
whether to just let things be and hope that next year when things are
blooming at a more normal time my garden will look less disgusting or
to just rip everything out and start from scratch.  Valerie Lowrey
promised me that my Valerian would be a thing of beauty next year even
though at the moment, it is just a spindly little waif.  At least I
would have a bit of red to add to the unsightly mess.  To add insult
to injury, my monarda buds are beginning to open and instead of red,
they are pink.  Anyone have any suggestions?
