Barb:
Such a chart already exists. It is the RHS colour chart and is available
through RHS in England. Quite good - used by the pro's and quite, quite
expensive. You hold the flower petal up to the back of the card - there's a
hole in the middle of the card and you can match the petal colour to the
card colour with a little experimentation. Worth the money if you do a lot
of breeding or colour work... otherwise pretty pricey for the average gardener.
