I have the monarda 'Aquarius' and thought it was more like a magenta due to
it's reddish tones. The 'Blue Stocking' is definitely more purple, having
bluer tones. The two arranged together in a blue vase is stunning. Looks
like a wild 3D effect.
Supposedly there is a monarda that is a lighter blue. I'm thinking that it
will end up looking lavender. I remember seeing the description in Busse
Gardens' catalog, but I can't find my copy right now. Anyone know what I'm
searching for?
To those who have several varieties of monarda: which ones are the most
invasive in your garden? 'Blue Stocking' is out of control! The ones that
are more reddish pretty much behave themselves for me.
