Re: My shasta daisies
Jeanne, my first year of gardening, I had the identical experience
you're
having with a shasta daisy. One bud, sat there for months, never
bloomed, did not come back in the spring. I was so disappointed (newbie
that I was) that I thought, oh, well, shasta daisies won't grow here --
so I didn't plant any for five years! Then my daughter gave me some
leftover seed for the White Knight shasta; I threw them in a big pot
(indoors), they germinated and started growing. I put the pot outdoors
and had blooms by July. Three years ago I got three small plants of
Alaska from Bluestone, and all three are now enormous, blooming clumps.
Some Cobham Gold (pale yellow) planted this year is budding heavily and
ready to bloom. So I think you've experienced the world of
dud-plantdom. Some plants are just duds, for one reason or another.
Get some new plants and they will probably be just fine.
