Re: So, you've bought some roses... What next?


Stick the roses in the ground right away.  Till up the soil well and bury 
them according to your climate (meaning if you're in frigid zones like 
me, soil level a little above the graft instead of even or below).  Make 
a little channel all around the rose to hold water.  Water it a TON & 
keep it up.  Roses love water and as long as there's drainage you can't 
overwater em.  Wait before fertilizing them so you don't overstress em.  
If you get one rose you got your money's worth, but if you give it good 
soil and tons of water it should love you and be happy.  I do this all 
the time-- buy em cheap and consider them annuals that might be bonuses. 
I've never had one die the first year and almost never have em die at all 
(with no protection, go figure).
