Thanks for your response, however plants do give
off CO2 (according t my botany book), but they do it during the dark reaction of
photosythesis.
Basically, in the first stage of photosynthesis, the light reactions
occur where electromagnetic energy is used to form ATP (big energy
molecule). The second stage is the dark reaction which takes the energy
products of the first stage and uses them. CO2 is converted (called
carbon fixation) and the carbon part is used (Calvin cycle - similar to
Krebs cycle).
Photorespiration, however, is a process in which plants comsume oxygen
and release CO2 and is accompanied by the Calvin cycle.
Human also release oxygen when they breathe.
