bears and bells

Nina,
    I would not be likely to carry apples and carrots to feed the
wildlife.  I would be more inclined to carry a gun to shoot them.  I
loved the story about the bells in the bear poop.  
    I guess I am really lucky that I only have to deal with squirrels,
chipmunks, and the occasional mole.  Since I read that moles eat
slugs, I have become rather fond of moles.  I have heard nightmare
stories of peoples lawns being destroyed by moles but my mole is much
more considerate.  His little tunnel runs under my patio, under my
screen porch and ends up in the neighbor's yard.  I'm not sure what he
does there, but in my yard, he just eats the grubs.
