I might add that the tropane alkaloids found the these genera are usually
considered deliriants rather than hallucinogens. Although they do have a
history of use by various cultures around the world in a generally shamanic
context they were not as popular as the less gruelling alkaloids that are
offered by many other entheogenic species of plants. These alkaloids in the
form of Atropa, Hyoscyamus, Mandragora and others play a major part in the
lore of witchcraft or 'nature worship' in Europe.

I would also consider your customers observations to be mere speculation.
In my opinion there is plenty of botanical evidence in validating the
movement of the large perennial 'Tree Daturas' to a new genera away from the
annual Datura species that has nothing to due with the fact that Daturas
reputation as being a 'drug plant'. I doubt that the botanists took the
'marketing aspects' into consideration.....

But all that matters little when it comes to the joy and wonder these plants
evoke when in full flower!
