Jeanne,
I think bulbs were specially designed for newbie gardeners like ourselves
who need some positive reinforcement of our labors to keep us motivated
while we learn. I decided this spring that they were basically foolproof
as long as you can keep the furry ones away from them. And even then, you
can plant daffs which they don't like. When they look so beautiful in the
spring, you at least feel like you can do SOMETHING right.
Not many of my plants have made me feel that way lately.
Have you considered the "watched pot never boils" theory with your shastas?
Maybe if you ignored them for a few weeks they would bloom for you.
Keep sending your messages to the list. You usually have me rolling in the
floor laughing in complete sympathy.
