What to mix with what...

I have about 200 Gladiola bulbs that I'm not quite sure what to
do with... Can I plant them now, and prior to frost, trim them back in
preparation for next year? Or should I (augh!) be patient, and wait?

Alllllso <sigh>, I have been toying with the idea of A) where
to put these puppies, and B) what to mix them with.

I was thinking about building a bed of daylillies, with the
glads mixed in among them, hoping that as the glads leaves die, I can
kind of lay them over where they don't show, yet still absorb the good
sunshine, etc. as described in the prior daffodil/tulip posts. (there is
no martha stewart bone in my body that would ever find me bundling
leaves and tying them in cutsey little knots...)

Since the Gladdies are reds, yellows, purples, and I believe a
sort of fuschia color, I felt the safest choice for daylillies would be
something like the Irish Limerick (pale lemon yellow with a wonderful
scent).

I'd love any comments ya'll are willing to toss my way.

nurseries that have wonderful selections of daylillies, PULLLEEEEZ let
me know!)
