I don't know a lot about daylilies but I suspect your orange "triple" is
classed as a double--most plants are called doubles no matter how many layers
they seem to have. I have a "double" daylily that I think goes back a ways,
although I only bought it about 20 years ago. It's the cultivar 'Four Tiers'
(implied four layers, doesn't it?)--the extent of the doubling can vary from
year to year and from bloom to bloom. It's nice enough but I have seen some
really lovely modern cultivars in some of the daylily hybridizers catalogs.
Of course they're ranging $50-$250 per plant for these new cultivars.
