Is it possible that you are looking at a Mexican Hat flower? This is Ratibida
columnifera. In the wild they grow to 2 feet tall and have Maroon/Red petals
often (not always) tipped in yellow. There are all yellow types too and the
red and yellow mix and remix freely. The center "cone" is tall and the petals
reflex strongly. The stems are long and wire-like and foliage is divided and
lacy looking. The bloom time is June through fall and I have some growing in
the meadow outside. Let us know when you are sure what it is.... sounds nice!
Blessings of the Fruitful Season!
