Hi Leslie,
Pea staking is reallly quite easy. You simply take tree or shrub trimmings
done in the late winter and use those trimmings for staking plants that
would normally flop. The cuttings are fresh, so they will endure for the
summer. The new growth of the plants you are staking hides the woody stems
of the pea stakes. The English have been using this method for years and
years. This is like recycling at its best. One caution, some trimmings can
take root and you might just find yourself with a new shrub or tree where
you reallly don't want it. Anyway, pea stakes work on a number of floppy
plants and should be virtually undetectable.
