Gardening friends:
On June 10th I wrote and told ya'll about my unknown acanthus that was in bud
for the first time - well nearly a month later the buds have opened and it is
truly in bloom-----after looking at the blooms and referrering to my "big
book" I think it is the Acanthus hungaricus (probably one of the more
common)....the bracts are green with a hint of purple and the flowers are a
whitish pink (darker pink veining)....very nice indeed. There are probably
more spectacular blooming acanthus out there but I won't give this one
up....It bloomed :o). I have another by it's side that has shown no signs
of wanting to bloom.....YET, we will just have to wait and see. Funny thing
about this blooming acanthus....the heat has taken nearly all of the leaves
and the plant is primarily a blooming stalk.
Just wanted to share the good feeling with those I know can appreciate it and
maybe do just a little bit of humble bragging :o).
Happy gardening to you all.
