I've had them on my swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) for the past
two years (haven't checked this year yet) and it almost always
affects the plant. Eventually the tips droop, dry up, and fall
off.
Butterfly weed is generally shorter and stouter, so I'm not surprised
that it's unaffected.
Hopefully this year I'll catch it in time and maybe actually have
blooms for a change! :)
