Take a look at <www.trop-hibiscus.com> and see if the ones you saw are
tropical hibiscus. Blooms on some varieties of tropical hibiscus can be
as big as dinner plates, but I think what you probably saw were hibiscus
moscheutos (hardy hibiscus).
Tropical hibiscus can be grown up north, but they're inside when the
thermometer drops to 32. Take a look at
