Val,
You should be able to find boxed, bareroot hardy hibiscus at your local
Wal-Mart, and perhaps potted plants also. The place I work, Gilberg
Perennial Farms, in Glencoe, Missouri (near St. Louis), owns the patent on
several varieties of hardy hibiscus which they produce and then market
exclusively through Wal-Mart in this region.
I work with retail customers in the garden center, not at the production or
wholesale facilities, so I do not know off-hand which varieties are available
at Wal-Mart. In the garden center we sell a wide selection of potted
Hibiscus moscheutos and it's hybrids, but we don't do any retail mail order
business. A partial list of the varieties available is at
www.gilbergfarms.com. If you are looking for a particular variety and we
have it and you can't find it locally, e-mail me privately and I may be able
to help you. But our plants are all 1-gallon or larger and would be
difficult to ship safely, so it would be best to look locally.
Gilberg's is a beautiful place and worth taking the time to visit the web
site for those of you who have the time and are curious. --Janis
