I think I remember being told that spireas attract and/or require flies for
pollination? Did I hallucinate this?
My daughter & her husband & others are involved in a bit of a silly dispute
with their condominium strata council about whether cats running free &
doing what comes naturally in an enclosed courtyard are contributing to the
fly problem. I opened my mouth and repeated an unsubstantiated rumour about
spirea. The courtyard is full of them. Easy landscape material. Requires
very little maintenance. Could be more than cat poop causing the problem?
(If it is a problem. Didn't seem to be anymore flies about than a sensible
city dwelling would consider normal?)
So now I'm being asked to verify my contention! Anyone know anything for
sure about spirea & flies? :-)
Thanks.
Donna.
